Museum of Wine
The Wine Museum is a museum for Bulgarian wines and winemaking located in Pleven. It is located in a cave in the protected area "Kailaka", near the "Totlebenov val" dam. The cave consists of 5 galleries.
The museum was founded in 2008 as a public-private partnership involving the state as the owner of the cave and the investor company World Wines. The team of the museum includes Bulgarian specialists from the Pleven Panorama and the Regional History Museum. In 1890 the first and only professional school of viticulture and wine-making was opened in the city. In 1902, the National Institute of Viticulture and Enology was established in the city.
The museum has two tasting rooms / the big one has a capacity of 50 seats/ , a historical part and a hall with exhibits of wines from all over Bulgaria. A visit to the Museum is accompanied by a discussion that includes rich information on the history of wine, production technology and more.
There is also a discussion and tasting, which is conducted with a lecturer and is a mini-course in its essence.
